Academic Enrichment
Academic Enrichment Program
Monday through Friday, from 3:30 – 6:00 p.m. Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church
Performing well academically when life is chaotic isn’t fun, easy or desirable. But we want to see these kids do better.
The Academic Enrichment Program (AEP) exists to give disadvantaged children of the Parker Street Neighborhood the opportunity and resources they need to excel in school.
Children participate in small group learning activities, supplemental and basic skills education, homework help and Bible study in a safe, structured and nurturing environment. Staff partners with schools and parents to ensure adequate support is provided.
This program is volunteer and staff supported – which means we need YOUR help to keep it going. Just two hours a week, once a week could make all the difference in the world for a kid in our neighborhood. Let us know how you can help.
Summer Bridge Camp
Monday – Friday 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. 8 weeks during June – August
Parker Street Ministries’ Summer Camp gives the kids in the neighborhood a fun and creative outlet for all that summertime energy in a structured and well-supervised environment. It also is intended to bridge the devastating summer learning gap typical of our students.
Students participate in a myriad of extracurricular activities – art, cooking, sewing, sports and wood-working – as well as Bible lessons, one-on-one reading help and academic skill-building activities. All this fun occurs in a safe environment shielded from the temptations and dangers of the neighborhood.
Like AEP, Parker Street Ministries’ Summer Camp is volunteer and staff supported. How can you help?
- Put your teenager to work doing some community service
- Donate your time and talents to teaching the kids in our neighborhood a new hobby
