Summer Camp Opens

Summer-Bridge began on June 11 bringing with it several exciting developments. We have grown from serving 78 kindergarten through eighth grade students to serving 95.  We have 10 neighborhood high schoolers returning to us committed to being role models and volunteers in the younger students’ classrooms for the duration of the summer. There are an additional 10 neighborhood high school students who could not make the daily committment but are able to volunteer regularly in the program. This is huge!

Campers are enjoying busy mornings of art and fun activities, healthy hot lunches, and afternoons of academic enrichment. All the students have been evaluated by standardized software and are being challenged to maintain or improve their reading and math levels.
