Wesley Memorial update
Dear Friends,
Last Sunday I participated in the final worship service and official disbanding of the Wesley Memorial Mission, a mission that has provided a physical home for Parker Street Ministries for four years. Person after person gave thanks for this body of believers that used all of its resources to serve this community. The disbanding of this mission was a sad event, and at the same time it was an event that opens possibilities for Parker Street Ministries. That is the reason for this quick update.
The Wesley Memorial facility is ideally located to house all of our ministries and serve this neighborhood well. Currently we are talking with the Methodist officials about obtaining these buildings. As of today, we have no formal agreement to lease, purchase or receive these buildings. Our status is the same as it has been for four years: we are leasing the facilities. We ask you to act on our behalf in two ways.
First, please pray for us as we attempt to evaluate this opportunity. We need wisdom. Pray about The WORD becoming Flesh and moving Further into the Neighborhood.
Whatever the future of the Wesley Memorial buildings, Parker Street Ministries will continue to live and minister as the hands and feet of Jesus in this broken community. To accomplish our mission, we need your continuing financial support. Like many non-profits, our donations are down this year, and although we are taking steps to save money, we anticipate having to draw from our line-of-credit this month.
We are counting on your support as pledges and gifts need to come in and the Christmas Store needs funding. We ask also that you add an extra monthly pledge or an extra one-time gift to help compensate for those who are hurting financially and cannot support us this year. The sooner these gifts arrive, the better financial knowledge we have to talk with Methodist officials. That extra amount will be just what we need to meet our projected needs and enter 2010 on sure financial footing.
On behalf of Board of Trustees and staff, I am thanking God for you,
Tim Mitchell
Executive Director
