AEP has begun!
Current staff includes:
Nicki Rose: Kindergarten/First
Nate Rosswog: Second/Third
Eina Dorado: Fourth-Eighth Girls
Blake Scheidt: Fourth-Eighth Boys
William Wainwright: AEP Coordinator (works with Education Director Christina Allen)
First week of AEP has run very smoothly. We have 36 students currently, two more beginning next week for our max of 38. We also have several families on a waiting list. Each day we help all of our students complete their homework, as well as require a minimum of 20 minutes of reading. If the student does not have any homework at all or if time allows, we provide math work. Each student is required to focus on academics for an hour each day, Monday-Thursday. On Friday, we have Bible lesson and free time.
Beginning in October, our younger two classes will participate in a monthly art class. This is an extension of the summer art program led by Krystal Lockhart from the Polk Museum of Art.
Prayer requests:
Please pray for our staff, for their daily interactions with our students and parents, and that they would have continued opportunities to share the Gospel. Please pray for volunteers – we need as many as 12 to 13 daily. We had a volunteer training on Tuesday, September 8, at 6:00 pm and there are 10 volunteers so far.
